Founder’s Message
HTX Black Tennis Club was created from a simple belief: tennis should feel welcoming, accessible, and culturally connected to the communities that surround the courts. What began as a small effort to bring people together around the game has grown into a vibrant community of players, supporters, and partners who believe in the power of tennis to build relationships, confidence, and opportunity. Every clinic, social event, and community activation reflects our commitment to creating a space where people of all backgrounds can learn the game, find their rhythm on the court, and experience the joy of tennis together.
Our Approach
Our work extends beyond the courts through our partnership with Third Ward Tennis Association, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to tennis in Houston’s historic Third Ward community. While HTX Black Tennis Club focuses on programming, events, and community engagement, the Association works to increase long-term access through youth development initiatives, scholarships, and community tennis infrastructure. Together, these two organizations operate with a shared vision: to ensure that tennis is not only present in our community, but thriving within it.
Lasting impact
Through this unified mission, we are building something larger than a club—we are building a movement that celebrates culture, connection, and opportunity through tennis. Whether you are stepping onto the court for the first time or have played for years, you are part of a growing community that believes the sport can open doors, create lifelong friendships, and inspire the next generation of players. Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping us continue to elevate the game and empower the culture.
